Farm to Product

The feeling of growing your own ingredients and raising your own animals, then putting that into a product is an amazing feeling. Knowing how it was grown, what was put into it, and where it came from, makes it that much better.

Milking the goats every morning and evening, then taking that and using it in my lotions and soaps is a special feeling. Starting basically from scratch, leading then to an end product has always brought so much satisfaction to me. Really with anything I do. I love taking all God's creations on this earth, making something with them and reusing them in another way.

In my products I try and keep everything as natural and in the most pure state as possible. Making it more healthy for your body, skin and health.

Goat's milk lotion is one of my newest products. Grapeseed, avocado, sweet almond and coconut oils, along with fresh milk  from our goats will all be found in the lotion. All which have amazing benefits for the skin! Only pure essential oils are used to give the scent.

Specialty lotions, such as "Herbal Infused," are next on my list to make. These will be made the same way, only infusing specific herbs in the oils that will be for healing, relaxation, etc. Lip balms will also be coming soon!

I hope to continually be able to grow more and more of the ingredients I use in my products. Keeping it from "Farm to Product" even more so.

Also, please leave reviews on your previous Rainy Day Farm/Studio purchases and let everyone know what you think of our products!!!

Living for Today

What if today was your last day?...How would you change? What would you do differently?

Tomorrow is never promised. Too often we get so caught up in always living for the future. Wondering what tomorrow, a week, a month, or even years from now will hold.  Not ever thinking about today, the moment we are living in right now. But what if tomorrow never comes?

Life is short. Things change quickly. You are then questioning why something could have ever happened, or turned out to be that way?  Wishing then, you could change it. Go back. Or have done something, or said something differently.

Once someone is gone, the first thing everyone says is, "I wish I could spend one more day with them." Or regrets are running through your mind of things you wish you would have said, how you would have spent more time with them, or what you wish you could change. But it's all gone. Because today will never come again. It's so easy to say though, I'll do it tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the day I will change. Or treat that person differently. Or tell that person how grateful or thankful I am for them. But what if they aren't here tomorrow? What if you aren't here tomorrow? You are left with too many regrets, I wishes, and wanting one more day to change it all...

It's so crazy sometimes how it feels as though our whole life is always revolving around our future. Always wondering what the next day, month, week, or year will bring. With each day leading up to that just going by. Not living in the moment, or for this day today, but always for tomorrow. All those special little moments of each and everyday are not taken in, but just skipped over thinking about tomorrow. A year goes by, you then wish you could change it all to go back.

Our emotions most of the time are even centered around the future. Rarely are they in the present. Always thinking about the good or bad things that could happen. Leaving us happy, sad, depressed, angry, etc. But what if none of that ever even happened?  Learning to take life as it comes and leave all the worrying behind, will lead to a so much more happier and healthy life.

So why not start living for today? The moment you are in now. And leaving the future in God's hands. Enjoying every special little moment, with no regrets later. Making the most out of everyday, knowing tomorrow is never promised. Not only for you, but also for everyone else around you. Live each day as if it's your last....

Finding True Happiness

Have you ever stopped to think what brings you true happiness in life? The happiness that comes from deep down inside and puts that big smile on your face. The excitement that builds up within you?

I think we as humans, too often search to find our happiness from worldly things. Things that will be here today and gone tomorrow. Things that really don't matter in this life. Sure, it will bring some happiness for a short while, but does it bring that true happiness that last forever? I always feel like when trying to find it from worldly things, it never brings satisfaction. It causes you to be happy for a little while, then always want more and more. Or the bigger, better, or more fancy. Nothing becomes good enough anymore. You always want more and begin to forget what you have. Or what really matters in life.

I really believe God created us to find true happiness from Him. Things He created. All the beautiful things that make up this world. Not particularly the things of this world.  He created so much for us, yet we always think we need more. Relationships with loved ones can bring so much true happiness. Spending time with them, creating memories that will last forever. If you think about it, when you lose someone, you always reflect on the memories you made with that person. All the things you did with them. The times you spent together. The true happiness that they brought to you. You then forget about all the worldly things and realize none of that really matters anymore. Almost anyone would then say they'd give up anything to have that person back. Because it's something you can't live without. Or you learn to go on with life, but maybe it'll never be the same, because you don't have them walking beside you everyday putting that smile on your face, bringing you that happiness.

If you really take the time to just stop. Stop and breathe in all the beauty around you God created. Even in the midst of a world where everything seems to be falling apart sometimes, you can still find that beauty. It can be found in all the little things. We seem to always spend so much time in trying to be that perfect person, or have/find that perfect thing, yet forget the true reason why we are even living this life. Here on this earth. I think God intended for us to be here to have relationships with those around us, to enjoy and be satisfied with the things He created.

God gave us everything we could ever need on this earth to find that true happiness, it's just how hard we want to work to find it, then receive it. Take time each day to stop and remind yourself what brings you that true happiness from within. Is it from worldly things? Or is it truly from God?

Have a great day everyone!!

The Little Things

It's the little things in life that really matter....How you touch the lives of others and make a difference, even in the smallest ways, can truly mean so much to someone....

Life can be painful, hard and to the point where you just want to let go of everything. But it can also be beautiful! Finding all the imperfections in each day and making them perfect, can lead to a so much better life. Not only for you, but also for the lives of others around you...The things that the people go through around you, may be hidden deep down inside, behind a smile...They could be suffering from a serious illness, have family issues at home, or could've had the worst day ever, but they'll simply hide it behind a laugh or smile, just so everyone else will think there life is perfect and everything is alright. But you truly don't know what could be hidden behind that...Nobody's life is perfect! As much as everyone wants it to be, it can't be that way...But leaving someone with a smile, encouragement, or kind words can turn their day around a whole lot more than what you think...As much as some may try to push you away and tell you they don't need you - They do! If anything, just leave them with a smile, because that can sometimes be the best thing you can do...To at least show them that you care....God didn't give you this life just for yourself...He gave it to you to also help others. Help others see the little things. Help them to get through their struggles. But most importantly, to 'Love thy neighbor as thyself.' << That can be SO hard sometimes. Others can treat you terrible, and you are supposed to love them just as much as yourself?? Yes, as hard as it may be sometimes...Just show them you love them and you care, even if they don't show it back. Because, even if they don't accept it, show it back, or see it, God does. That's all that matters. God sees everything you do. He sees how you treat others. And He cares. Even if not one other person does, He does. He always will....That's what truly matters....Because how you live today, how you treat others...Is what brings you one step closer to Everlasting Eternity someday....

The beautiful sunrises in the morning, a smiling face, laughter, the perfect blue skies with fluffy white clouds, the birds chirping to the morning air, kids playing, the sun shining bright, the first cry of a baby...Are all the little things in life...But they are all the things that truly matter...Because, when you are done on this earth...What phone you had, or what your favorite tv show was, or how many records you set, or how many "Likes" you got on your facebook post....Not one of those will matter...How you treat others, live for God, find the good in everyday, put a smile on someone else's face, and breath in all the little things of this earth - The beautiful things God has blessed you with...You will find more happiness and good in each and every day. Also, with these things...There is no competing as to who is the best, or who has the best. These things. These things...Can truly be taken in and seen as beautiful as the eye of the beholder will allow....

So when you are at your end point. You feel all alone. You just want to give up, because you think nothing matters anymore, and there's no point in trying...Don't. Just always know, God will always be there with you, walking every step of this life right by your side. And always remember, even if no one else sees the good things you do or how you treat others..He will! So never lose hope! Never give up on this life and the people around you! Give a smile to those who need it most! But most importantly...See the little things of this earth as a little more beautiful!......

Have an AmAzInG Saturday everyone!!!

Back To How It Started

Hey everyone!! It's been a little while since I have last posted anything! I hope you all are doing well!

Ok, so this post is about going more back to when I first started my business, 8 years ago. If you would like to read about how I got started, you can do so>> here. But basically I began my journey of spinning and weaving after we bought 4 alpacas back in 2007. We couldn't let there beautiful fiber go to waste! With that being said, I learned to spin and weave and put their fiber to good use! As time went on, I began experimenting with other exotic (yet still natural) fibers...I fell in love with the process of carding, spinning and dyeing fibers, then taking the yarn and weaving it into a finished product. There was always excitement within me of what I was going to create next. Or what fiber I was going to use. All the way down to the patterns and colors! I thought it was the coolest thing to be able to take the raw fiber from an animal - Alpaca, llama, yak, sheep, goat, or whatever, then turn it into something beautiful. The process was so fascinating to me!

As the years went on, that love I had for the spinning and dyeing slowly began to slip away.  I would still do it here and there, but would  spend my time weaving from yarns that I had bought and use mostly just cotton. The handspun alpaca/llama/mohair/yak and other exotic fibers, that I had used so much in the previous years, slowly began to disappear out of my stash of yarns...My days were just spent weaving dish towels upon dish towels. Don't get me wrong, I love weaving dish towels! Many orders were coming in for them too! Which is all great! But it was like I was stuck in this "Rut"  of just weaving towels and nothing else. That process of starting with the raw fiber from an animal, then turning into an end product, had slowly started to slip away from me, almost to where it was no where to be found anymore...

Just a couple of weeks ago, I decided to pick it all back up again! Bags of raw fiber are still stored away in attic (which have been there for years), so I decided start spinning again! The love I once had, slowly started to come back. Alpaca on the spinning wheel, a handspun scarf made from bamboo/alapca/merino wool, is found on the loom, and a million ideas of what to create began flying back through my head!

source

I've decided to incorporate all that back into my business once more. Not only do I want to use exotic fibers again, but I want to crochet cowls, hats and different things from my handspun yarn too! I also want to experiment with natural dyes - Using plants, flowers, anything found on this earth. In the coming months, look for more fiber oriented products, hopefully some new things, and a whole lot of experimenting.

But don't worry, those dish towels everybody loves? Those aren't going to be forgotten, I'll still be making lots of those! I just need to make some changes and as always, continue to find new ways in growing my business, and be the best at what I love and going back to where I started 8 years ago...

I hope you all have an AmAzInG Friday!!! Enjoy the beautiful sunshine!

Goat's Milk Benefits For Your Skin

Since we are NOW selling goat's milk soap, I decided why not write a post on how great goat's milk is for your skin?!

Our skin is our largest organ and it is said that approximately 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bloodstream. So why wouldn't you want to use a natural soap that is good for your skin too? Once you use a good goat's milk soap, you will never want to go back to using anything else!
Goat's milk is wonderful for those with dry or sensitive skin, or conditions such as eczema and acne. Unprocessed goats milk, fresh from the farm contains many benefits.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Goats milk contains Alpha-Hydroxy Acids such as lactic acids, which help in removing dead skin cells from your skin's surface. This now leaves new cells on the surface of your face leaving it smoother and younger looking. Removing dead skin cells will many skin conditions by removing irritations.

Vitamins.  Many different vitamins are found in goat's milk, one particularly being Vitamin A. Vitamin A is necessary to repair damaged skin tissue and maintains healthy skin.

Cream. Fat molecules are an important part in making good soap. The cream found in goat's milk, helps in boosting the moisturizing quality of goat's milk soap. Like many other soaps, goat's milk soap will not dry your skin out. This, being important in having healthy skin, because keeping your skin moisturized naturally, is what will give you healthy skin. Due to its fat molecule content, goat's milk is said to reduce inflammation too.

Minerals. Goats milk contains important minerals for the skin such as selenium. Selenium is believed to have an important role in preventing skin cancer. It can also help in preventing damage to the skin from an excessive amount of time in the sun.

Who ready to try some goat's milk soap?!? Check us out on Facebook - Rainy Day Farm/Studio and be sure to hit the "Like" button! We currently have 2 different scents available, with 4 more curing!

Have a great TuEsDaY everyone!!!

New Changes For Rainy Day Farm/Studio!!

Ok everyone, exciting announcement! We are going to be making changes and adding some new things to my, (now our) business!!

So as most of you know, I've had my business for a little over 8 years now! I spin, weave and create things using natural fibers. And I love it! But I've decided to partner up with my mom and we are going to create something a little different.

Around 3 years ago we started a herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats with 4 does. Over the last couple of years we have grown that herd from 4 to now 11. From the beginning, we had the idea in mind of raising them for their milk for our family. Mom also had the idea of using their milk for other things too - Cheese, soap, lotion, etc...Mostly for our family first. Over the last year or so, she's been experimenting with making some of those things. The soap is one thing she's made, that we all really love and use daily! With the goats milk in it, it leaves your face feeling so fresh and clean, while also leaving it smooth and soft! So she has thought about it for awhile and decided why not start selling it? But soap is not the only thing she enjoys making or experimenting with! She loves herbs and using natural/herbal remedies for everything! Herbal teas/salves/anything we need to heal a sickness/issue/cut/bruise/ or whatever, she's there researching/mixing/and creating something to fix the problem!

We've had a lot of discussions and decided why not combine my love for weaving things out of natural fibers, and her love for creating things out of goats milk, herbs, and natural God-given things found on this earth, and turning it into an awesome business together?!? We're going to start out small and gradually add new things. Soaps and herbal teas are what we're going to start with, and then hopefully add new things soon!

All of her soaps are made with no harsh chemicals, or anything you wouldn't want to put on your skin. They are all scented with essential oils too - So no artificial fragrances.

So with all that, we will now be combining our products at shows/festivals and have a booth together. I will now be posting her things, as well as any new products/updates on my business FB page - Rainy Day Farm/Studio. << Please go and "Like" it, if you haven't already, for all the updates and exciting new things happening!!

I'm excited for the new changes we will be making and hope you all are, too!!

 Have an AmAzInG Friday everyone!!!
